Project output and results indicators

The objectives outlined for the project have been largely exceeded. In terms of impact measured by the total number of papers produced, the project has published 13 scientific papers, including 5 papers in well recognised international journals and 8 papers in international conferences/book chapters, which exceeded the target of 3 journal papers and 3 conference papers initially planned in the project proposal.

Dissertations
and thesis

In the scope of the project 2 PhD thesis were developed and 1 has been initiated, and 5 master dissertations have been concluded, which also exceeds the initial objective of 1 Ph.D. and 1 M.Sc. thesis.

The project developed a set of tools (6) and prototype of a platform for maritime traffic analysis and abnormal detection, which exceeds the 2 computational tools initially planned. These achievements have been demonstrated in workshops, seminars and international conference sessions devoted to the dissemination of the project results.

New course unit

The knowledge gained during the development of MoniTraffic has already been shared with students in the Master Programme in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering at IST through a newly introduced course unit, “Modelling and Safety of Maritime Traffic.” This course made its debut during the academic year 2022-2023.
